Every once in a while I read the blog 6 Year Med. The woman writes very insightful posts that choke me up.
Here is a recent post about her last year. This is good.

Maybe this blog has a few more breaths in it…
Perhaps by popular demand (thanks Mark for your email) this blog will remain open a while longer. We'll see…
Anyhow, if you're looking for a laugh, a smile or a little bit of French trivia, I invite you to read my little brother's blog: Sarcastic Frenchie. I've been enjoying it!

A Cool Youth Weekend

Mom blogs about it here: La Ferme des Kapi: Weekend at the Farm
I won't add much. I'd just say that we did something cool. We may have found a theme for next 20 years. As I've been really helped (and motivated) by John Piper's book: Don't Waste Your Life, we thought we would translate the concept to French.
Therefore, we can easily have a Don't Waste Your Sexuality, a Don't Waste Your Money, Don't Waste Your Treasure (aka Jesus) etc…
The concept went down really well. God was clearly working in our hearts. You can be praying that God would be glorified by lives lived fully for Him.

God's Wonderful Plan for Your Life
Someone just pointed this out to me, so I'm passing it on:
"Many people like to talk about “God’s Wonderful Plan forYour Life.” I think that’s a great thing! Yes! God has a Wonderful Plan for your life! I was recently granted an interview with the Apostle Paul and asked him about just that very thing.
+++
ME: Paul, thank you for taking time out of your busy schedule to do this blog interview. I know you have a lot going on so I’ll cut to the chase: Can you tell us about God’s Wonderful Plan for your life so far?"

Blogging The Institutes
In the English-speaking web there is an abundance of great Christian resources and blogs. One that I've just subscribed to is Blogging The Institutes. A group of Christian leaders are reading John Calvin's Institutes of Christian Religion.
Would you believe that Calvin is no big deal in France? Yes, we're celebrating his 500th birthday, but I don't know if many people actually know anything about the man. I think the Catholic influence here never took kindly to Calvin's strong criticism. He's just known for two clichés: condemning people to be burned to the stake and founding a strict religion where people are predestined to hell.
I don't have the theological savvy of all the English bloggers out there, nor do I have the time. But I'm working my way through The Institutes and enjoying myself. Did you know that The Institutes are the first theological work published in the French language? In Calvin's day, every serious book was published in Latin. In fact his first edition was in Latin, but he then translated his book into French so that it could be read by a larger number. It became one of the greatest books in the French language.

What Did You Think of The Shack by William Young?
Interview with William Young
You can listen to The Shack author William Young giving an interview. In it he flatly denies the substitutionary atonement (which was one of the questions many people had as they read the book).

New Arrivals on the Kapi Farm
Spring is in the air and, as on any farm, great things happen. You can read about the newest inhabitants of the Kapi Farm on the family blog, by clicking here. As you see on the photo, everyone was excited to hear the news...

#73 Getting Caught Off-Guard by Divorce
Jon at Stuff Christians Like wrote a short little note on divorce. It's worth taking the 90 seconds to read it. The post has a more serious tone than most of his. That's probably why I liked it.

French Stereotypes and French Policemen
My mother has a fun story of being an American in northern France. I'm sure she would claim she's never bribed the police force, but I wonder what she calls cookies and coffee. You can read the story on the Kapi Family Blog.

DIY Blank Bible. You Don't know What is a Blank Bible?
For those of you who wouldn't know, Jonathan Edward's Bible is famous, not just a little, but big-time famous. He cut up his Bible and between every page of it, he inserted a blank page, after which he bound it back together to form a massive, Edwards Study Bible.
This blog gives us a how to for our own Study Bibles. If anyone is interested, you ought to check it out.

Jérémie is Getting Settled in and the Logos Hope Will Sail Soon!
Go read the post on my brother Jérémie's blog. He's just joined with his Preship (PST on his blog) and is settling to life onboard.
He doesn't mention what his job is, so I will. He's been assigned to the Engine Room and from the conversation I overheard, he's already come to believe its the best department onboard (he's probably right, for the while, as the deck department isn't a pleasant place to work when its freezing outside. But things will change when they hit the tropics!).

La Ferme des Kapi
You've got to check out the photo of the snowmen on our family blog. It doesn't snow here like we'd like it to. But my brothers and sisters seem to have no problem doing the best with what God gives…

Jérémie has arrived onboard the Logos Hope and there's video!
I don't have the video. It wasn't easy to embed it here, so you can go see it on Jérémie's blog and on the Logos Hope website of course.
The 39 new recruits walked onboard the Logos Hope to a warm welcome. You can pray that they rapidly integrate the community. It isn't an easy transition for either parties. The welcomers have just said goodbye to many good friends (having completed their 2-year commitment) and the welcomed are entering a strange new world.

Much to say but little time to write
I've been silent for several weeks now. My grandmother's death has had something to do in it, but mostly I've just allowed myself to become tired. When physically tired I'm easily discouraged and can even become depressed. Thank God I know myself now and simply do not allow myself to make life changing decisions when I am this tired, as
my feelings are all wrong.
But I've had much on my mind and much that I would have liked to write about. I just never seem to get around to putting it on paper. I'm preaching in my church this Sunday, so I will be obliged to write. I'll certainly put a summary of my sermon on the blog. It will be on Luke 7, the passage where the prostitute pours perfume on Jesus' feet. Also, rather than try to post my thoughts chronologically, the funeral has been grounds for much thought, I decided to just write.

Translation Anyone?
I'm finding life in France quite busy. For those who've been trying to keep tabs on what I'm doing, you've certainly realized that blogging is not the solution for me.
One big problem is that I can't be bothered to keep both my English and French blogs updated. And since my French skills have decreased considerably during my three year stint with Doulos, I've been trying to write a lot in French. So for you out there that would like to know what is going on here in northern France, I suggest you check out my French blog. I've just set up a little translation gadget that allows you to understand what I'm talking about without any of the beauty of the language. Isn't that a bargain? :-)
This doesn't mean the English version of my blog is dead. It is certainly on hold until I get my life under control here in Old Europe. I miss the settled life of Doulos!
